Texas Energy Co. Gets $1.4B Award In Venezuela Bribe Case

A Houston energy company that claimed it was forced out of business because it refused to bribe officials at Venezuela's state-run oil corporation convinced a Texas federal judge on Thursday to enter a $1.4 billion judgment against the former energy minister of the South American country.

The firm will be moving from their current office at 700 Louisiana Street where the offices are 22,388 square-feet. Their new office location will expand to 27,795 square feet. SKV will take possession of the entire 28th floor for their expanded office project.

The Federal Circuit on Friday ordered a Texas district court to decide whether to hold a new trial to determine if WesternGeco LLC can recover $93.4 million in lost profits from Ion Geophysical Corp. in a long-running patent case, following a U.S. Supreme Court decision last year.
