Razvan Ungureanu


Mr. Ungureanu devotes his practice to civil litigation and appeals. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Houston Law Center, where he teaches Complex Litigation and Conflict of Laws. 

He received his B.A. from Rice University in 2006 and his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Utah College of Law in May 2010, where he was Associate Editor of the Utah Law Review. After law school, he was honored to be selected for two consecutive federal clerkships.

Mr. Ungureanu serves on the Board of Trustees and Chairs the Nominating Committee of the Summer Science Program, an astrophysics summer program in which gifted students from around the world track near-earth asteroids and compute their orbits or research fungal enzyme inhibition. 

He has published an article on Russian literature and colonialism, and has played in the World Chess Open.

Mr. Ungureanu is fluent in Romanian.  

Healthcare Industry

Counsel for McKesson Corporation in the Texas opioid multi-district litigation; defending against claims brought by approximately 50 counties against manufacturers and distributors of opioid medications. 

Represented client in ERISA, FEHBA, and Medicare Secondary Payer Act litigation brought by Aetna, Humana, and UnitedHealthcare. 

Represented pharmacy-management company against out-of-state medical center in overlapping state and federal litigation alleging breach of a pharmacy management agreement. 

Successfully defended hospital system in medical malpractice litigation. 

Energy Industry

Defending Colorado-based oil and gas company against claims by royalty owner/lessor seeking over $100 million in damages. 

Represented energy company primarily engaged in the Liquefied Natural Gas business in a dispute with one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies. In an International Centre for Dispute Resolution arbitration, SKV’s client won a complete victory involving a $2 billion contract. The three-member arbitration panel unanimously agreed with the client’s positions, rejected all contrary claims, and awarded SKV’s client all costs, including SKV’s attorney’s fees. 

Represented Enduring Resources II, LLC in lawsuit against a subsidiary of American Energy Partners arising out of Enduring’s $2.5 billion sale of oil and gas interests in the Permian Basin. 

Represented Shell Offshore, Inc. in accounting and contract disputes with other major oil companies over operation of offshore drilling platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.
